    The Wyandot County Humane Society (WCHS) is the only shelter of its kind in the Northwest/Northcentral Ohio region.  We are staffed 7am-11pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for taking in animals. Appointments are required to surrender large animals, unusual animals, giant breed dogs, and groups of three or more animals. (There is always a volunteer on duty overnight.) We never turn any animal away, regardless of the kind of animal (domestic animals, wildlife, livestock, exotics), what county it is from or the reason it has to be surrendered.   In addition, there is never any charge for surrendering an animal (although donations are always very much needed!). 

    Because we never turn any animal away, we cannot guarantee that every animal surrendered will find a new home, and we regrettably do have to make the difficult decision to euthanize animals.  However, we never set specific time periods for any animal -- each animal is judged on its own merits, and evaluated based upon its temperament, its health, and how well it is getting along here at the shelter.  We do our best to give every animal the most time possible, and the best possible chance at adoption.  If an animal does have to be euthanized, rest assured that we use the highest of humane standards and euthanasia is performed only by certified technicians.
