Founded in 1985, the ongoing dream of WCHS is to prevent and eliminate animal suffering. Through the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, in 2003 we were able to extend this vital service to horses, donkeys, mules, equines & a variety of other species. Our farm is equipped to take in any equine in need of help & place them in approved homes whenever possible. We never charge a fee for the service (although donations are greatly appreciated).

With 2 full-time live-in caretakers/trainers & a large indoor arena we are now able to train and do remedial work with a wide variety of horses year-round. Our program complies with all American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Care Guidelines and Homeless Horse Coalition Guidelines. Age is not an issue; many of our most placeable horses are older. We have equines suitable for 4H, trail riding & dressage as well as pasture pets. We’re confident we can match prospective adopters with the right horse.

Important: Don’t take a chance & put your horse online for placement. Many of them end up at auction (& ultimately slaughter). Let us find the right home for your horse. With our lifetime lease placement system, we’re able to track and protect all WCER equines for life. Yearly reports are required & all equines have the permanent option to return to our farm for placement in a different home.
