FAQs
What are your lease fees?
$100-500, depending on the animal
$100 for all pasture pets (horses that can’t be ridden)
What is a “Lifetime Lease Agreement”?
This agreement allows lessees to show, ride, house, care for and enjoy the animal(s) while WCER retains ownership.
You will pay a one-time lease fee before taking your equine home or to a boarding stable.
Under this agreement you cannot sell, trade, give away, transfer possession of or breed the animal. Any relocation of our equines to a new facility must be pre-approved by WCER.
If for any reason you can no longer care for them or simply don’t want to keep them, you will need to return them to WCER. We do this to ensure the equine’s safety. We don’t want them to be sold or be placed in an unsuitable environment or worse, sent to auction.
What if I need to move my leased equine?
The new facility must first be approved prior to relocating. Submit the information to info@wyhumane.org along with high-quality photos of the facility [including up-close images of fencing (especially corners)], water sources, pastures, barn or shelter where the animal will be housed and stall. Please include interior photos of structure(s).
For Boarding Facilities, we need to know the following:
Facility Name + Complete Address
Owner’s Full Name + Phone Number
Are stallions allowed on the property?
Who will be responsible for care?
If it’s your own property, we need to know the following:
Complete Address
Will you allow stallions on the property?
Will there be other equines on the property?
Can I offer my equine as available for an onsite or offsite lease?
No. Our contract is legally binding and we specify that no equine can be subleased.
I’m looking for a specific equine. Will you notify me if you get one in?
Generally, no. We are a working farm and our time is very limited. We can’t keep track of who wants what. You can check in by visiting our Facebook Page and viewing our “Available Equines” photo album. You can also message us on Facebook or send an email. We do our best to respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
Can I lease an untrained equine and train it myself or pay a trainer?
No. We do not lease any untrained equines. All equines must be at least 4 years old and started under saddle before being made available for lease.
